Uzbekistan's telecommunications networks are undergoing the most active stage of development and modernization. Full-scale and timely modernization of telecommunications networks is a necessary condition for the successful development of the country's economy. Every year of the company's life is a series of significant events for the development of the industry.

1992

Creation of the concern of state telecommunication enterprises "Uzbektelecom" on the basis of regional communications departments of state postal and electric communication enterprises.

1995-1996

Start of privatization and formation of joint-stock companies "Toshkent TAKSOFONI", "Syrdarya Telecom", creation of JV" Buzton"," Chircom", JSC"Uzbektelecom international".

1997

Transformation of the Ministry of communications into the Uzbek post and telecommunications Agency, creation of an independent regulatory body. Creation of joint-stock companies "Mahalliy Telecom "and"halkaro Telecom". Formation of joint-stock companies "Tashkent city telephone network", "Tashkent Telecom", "Andijan Telecom", "Namangan Telecom", etc.

2000

The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan from June 30, 2000 № -253 "The tasks of the organization of activity of joint-stock company "Uzbektelecom".

In accordance with this document on the basis of JSC "Local Telecom and Telekom International" the founded joint-stock company "Uzbektelecom".

The formation of joint stock companies "Karakalpak Telecom", "Bukhara Telecom", "Navoi Telecom", "Khorezm Telecom", "Tashkent telephone and Telegraph station" and "Enterprise of the international connection". Intal Telecom branch was established on the basis of Uzbektelecom joint-Stock company.

2001-2002

Reorganization of joint-stock companies that are part of Uzbektelecom JSC by converting from a holding structure to an operator company. By resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers № 488 of December 27, 2001 " on measures to prepare for the privatization of Uzbektelecom JSC, the subsidiary UzNet was attached to Uzbektelecom JSC as a branch of UzNet with all the functions and tasks of the interdepartmental data transmission network.

Completion of the Information Memorandum and start of its distribution to potential investors. 

2003

By the decision of the Supervisory Board, it was created Engineering and technical center of Uzbektelecom JSC.

A new type of activity has been Mastered - provision of wireless radio access services in the CDMA-450 standard. For this purpose, a branch of Uzbektelecom mobile was created, whose main task is to develop the national wireless communication system of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In 2003, a wireless radio communication system was launched in the Samarkand and Jizzakh regions.

2004

By the decision of the meeting of the Complex on communications and information and communication technologies of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 6, 2004 and the Supervisory Board of Uzbektelecom JSC № 39 dated may 26, 2004, the UzNet branch of Uzbektelecom JSC was joined to the Intal Telecom branch. The newly created branch was named "UzNet".

In December 2004, the UzMobile branch expanded its wireless subscriber radio access networks using the CDMA-450 standard in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Bukhara and Navoi regions.

The Uzbek communications and Informatization Agency has introduced a non-geographic access code 805 for smart services, which allows you to carry out an international conversation using a prepaid card from any phone from any point in Uzbekistan.

2005

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 8, 2005,  № PP-149 "on measures for the development of data transmission services and preparation for the privatization of Uzbektelcom, UzPAK was transformed into a branch of Uzbektelcom by merging with UzNet.

Pursuant to resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan № 453 of September 29, 2004. Uzbektelecom JSC and its branches have worked to expand the TashTTS VoIP gateway and to organize two additional VoIP nodes based on the tstt and UZNET branches, which made it possible to provide both international telephone calls and Internet access using universal prepaid cards.

2006

Implementation of the WiMax pilot project of the IEEE 802.16–2004 standard has started on the basis of The UzNet branch of Uzbektelecom JSC.

A specialized branch of the "Engineering and technical center" (ITC) was created, with the direct participation of the Uzbek communications and Informatization Agency (Uzasi) and the Tashkent University of information technologies (TUIT).

A videoconferencing service has been introduced, covering all regional centers of the Republic.

2007

UzMobile branch started providing mobile communication and data transmission services based on CDMA 450 standard in all regions of the Republic.

In accordance with the decree Of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 23, 2007. together with the Chinese development Bank (CDB) and Huawei Technologies, the investment project "Reconstruction and development of the telecommunications network of Uzbektelecom JSC "is being implemented on a leasing basis.

On the basis of NGN "next generation Network" technologies, the telecommunications network of Tashkent was modernized and expanded, video telephony services and access to data transmission networks and the Internet were introduced.

2010

The capacity of the international packet switching Center of Uzbektelecom JSC has been increased by 2 times and brought to 2.5 Gbit / s.

Tariffs for Internet services for providers and operators have been reduced by 44%: from 1510 to 849 US dollars per 1 Mbit / s.

2011

Rebranding and full-scale promotion of the NEW UZTELECOM™ brand and sub-brands of Uzbektelecom JSC was carried out» - UZMOBILE ™ and UZONLINE ™ , which are aimed at creating a single comprehensive visual strategy for promoting the services of Uzbektelecom and its structural divisions.

2012

Construction of 1,576 km of fiber-optic communication lines has been completed. The total length of intercity, international and intra-zone communication channels was 276.2 million channels / km, including fiber-optic communication lines 263.5 million channels / km.

The capacity of the international packet switching Center of Uzbektelecom JSC has been increased by 4 times and brought to 40 Gbit / s.

100% was the level of digital telecommunications network coverage of regions, district centers and cities of the Republic. The level of telecommunications network coverage in rural localities is 95.7%.

94 sales offices operating on the "Single window" principle have been put into operation.

The Number of broadband Internet access subscribers has increased by more than 52%.

The coverage Area of CDMA-450 localities in the Republic has been increased to 71.3%. The dynamics of growth in the number of users of IP telephony, video telephony and IPTV services was noted.

2013

More than 2257.4 km of fiber-optic communication lines were put into operation. The total length of intercity, international, intra-zone and local communication channels was 381.3 million channels / km, of which 368.2 million channels/km were formed on fiber-optic communication lines.

The coverage Area of the CDMA-450 mobile network of localities in the Republic has been increased to 74%. The level of telecommunications network coverage in rural localities is 96%.

The number of broadband Internet subscribers increased by more than 62%, the number of IP-TV users increased by 4.3 times, the dynamics of growth in the number of users of mobile services by 72% was noted.

Internet Access increased by 30% and reached more than 10 Gbit/s.

Tariffs for Internet services for providers and operators for 1 Mbit/s decreased by 1.3 times.

Work was carried out to install 140 base stations, as a result, the coverage area of mobile communications of the CDMA-450 standard reached 71% of the number of localities in the Republic.

There are a total of 163 UZTELECOM sales offices operating on the "Single window" principle in the Uzbektelecom network.

2014

The overall speed of using international information networks increased by 151.3% to 15.5 Gbit/s.

The tariff for operators and Internet providers connected to The international packet switching center was reduced by 11.6% to us $ 276.27 per 1 Mbit/s.

Constructed more than 2,000 km of fiber-optic communication lines for broadband access by modern technology in areas of "Busato-Kungrad", "Guzar-Baysun", "Denau-Uzun-Shargun", "Iaslic-Karakalpakstan", "Muinak–Qibla Usturt", "Uzun–Tajik border" with the provision of converged services such as video telephony, Internet TV, high speed Internet, watching HDTV channels, and others. The number of ports installed for providing fixed broadband Internet access services has been increased to 640 thousand, and the number of ports used has increased by 135.1%.

26 units of modern switching equipment were put into operation throughout the Republic, which significantly increased the capacity of telephone numbers.

According to the presidential Resolution "On measures on implementation of investment projects for development and modernization of telecommunication network of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of the State development Bank of China" on December 2, 2014 carried out projects for the development of telecommunications infrastructure for a total amount of 117,6 million US dollars, including at the expense of credit funds allocated by the State development Bank of China (PRC) in the amount of 100,0 million US dollars. These projects are aimed at expanding the capacity of backbone data transmission networks: in the international direction — 10 times (up to 100 Gbit/s), to regional centers — 4 times (up to 40 Gbit/s) and district centers — 10 times (up to 10 Gbit/s). As part of the implementation of this decree, the development of optical broadband access networks using FTTx technology is also envisaged, aimed at upgrading subscriber communication lines in Tashkent with the installation of broadband data transmission equipment at 69,120 ports.

13 call centers were created in all regions of the country as part of the project to introduce a Single call center for Uzbektelecom JSC, as well as for the needs of state bodies and business entities. For the convenience of subscribers, from December 1, 2014, a single number was introduced in the "Call-center" service-1084 throughout the Republic.

2015

Construction of more than 1,800 km of FOCL with the installation of channel-forming equipment was carried out, including the development of a network using FTTB technology to more than 4,000 administrative and residential facilities throughout the country, bringing up to 105,116 ports.

Work is underway to develop the Wi-Fi network on the territories of historical and cultural heritage sites of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as in places where tourists often stay (airport, train station, large shopping centers, markets, bus stations, etc.). The Wi-Fi network coverage area includes 25 objects and more than 441.8 thousand square meters of W i-F I-zones in the Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions.

In cooperation With the Foundation for the development of information and communication technologies, work was carried out to develop infrastructure:

702 educational institutions are connected to the Internet by laying fiber-optic cables and installing active equipment, and have access to the resources of the "National educational electronic library". In total, more than 585 km of fiber-optic communication lines are laid to the educational facilities;

200 professional colleges of the institution are connected to the Internet by laying fiber optic lines and installing active equipment, and have access to the resources of the national network "E-education". In total, more than 796 km of fiber - optic communication lines have been laid;

Work was carried out on the organization of optical communication channels from the access points of Uzbektelecom JSC to 198 regional, city and district khokimiyats of the Republic to improve the efficiency of public services within the framework of the E-government system. In total, about 90 km of fiber - optic communication lines have been laid.

2016

Construction of more than 2,313 km of fiber-optic networks with the installation of channel-forming equipment, including the development of the network using FTTB technology.

Together with the national company "Uzbektourism", 40 objects were identified for the rapid deployment of Wi-Fi networks in the cities of Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent.

1,138.1 km of fiber-optic communication lines and 37,344 ports have been laid to facilities located in rural areas (including sparsely populated and hard-to-reach areas), as well as social infrastructure, including medical facilities, police stations, and government agencies.

485 multi-standard base stations were installed and integrated.

2017

Construction of about 12,100 km of FOCL with installation of channel-forming equipment, including development of the network using FTTB technology.

Installation and integration of 10,080 multi-standard base stations. For the development of information and communication infrastructure in rural areas, 533 base stations with a total capacity of 52,960 broadband ports have been installed.

2,102.2 km of fiber-optic communication lines have been laid to objects located in rural areas (including sparsely populated and hard-to-reach areas), as well as social infrastructure facilities, including medical facilities, police stations, and government agencies.

In accordance with the decree Of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "on measures to implement the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of the people's Republic of China XI Jinping to the Republic of Uzbekistan, and further development of bilateral cooperation" dated September 18, 2013, No. P - 4131, projects on organizing the production of telecommunications equipment were implemented in the territory of the Jizzakh FEZ together with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd (Huawei), ZTE Corporation (ZTE) and Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology Co., Ltd. (ZTT).

2018

As part of the International Packet Switching Centre Expansion project, the capacity of the International Packet Switching Centre was increased by more than 10 times, from 120 Gbit/s to 1,200 Gbit/s.

The prefix “to” was removed from the indication of the speed of services on the tariff plan when providing wired Internet services and the speed of providing services is guaranteed.

The prices of Internet services on tariff plans with unlimited traffic at a certain speed have been reduced by more than 2 times.

Within the framework of the project "Implementation of broadband access networks in the regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan", broadband Internet access devices with a total capacity of more than 201,2 thousand ports were installed and put into operation on the territory of the Republic.

2019

As an innovation of IPTV services, joint provision of IPTV+Video on Demand was introduced.

A peer-to-peer network Uz-IX was launched.

The MyUZTELECOM mobile application was launched for convenient management of the UZTELECOM services.

Together with Ivi, an online cinema service was launched.

12,000 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines were built across the republic.

3 751 new base stations were built and put into operation.

The number of mobile subscribers reached 5 million.

2020

37,500 km of fiber-optic communication lines have been built across the republic.

The number of broadband access ports was doubled to 2.3 million.

The number of mobile communication base stations has been increased to 18,317 units.

An innovative UNITS tariff package with a unique billing system has been introduced.

The subscriber base of mobile communication services has reached 7 million.

Victory in the nomination "Brand of the Year" among Internet providers according to consumers.

For the first time on the basis of UZTELECOM mobile network the services of MVNO (mobile virtual network operator - virtual mobile network operator) operator were launched.
