Uzbektelecom JSC Continues Taking Practical Steps to Reduce Its Carbon Footprint and Promote the Green Economy in Uzbekistan

In 2025, the Company internationally certified the renewable origin of 20,000 MWh of electricity consumed through the purchase and retirement of I-REC(E) certificates.

This means that Uzbektelecom JSC officially confirms the use of a specific amount of electricity from renewable sources. Under international rules, this volume can be taken into account when calculating indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 2 under the market-based method), thereby reducing the Company's carbon footprint.

By purchasing I-REC(E) certificates, Uzbektelecom JSC does more than simply obtain an international certificate. The Company creates corporate demand for electricity from renewable sources, supporting the development of the green energy market and providing an economic signal in favor of further production of clean electricity.

For one of the country's largest telecommunications companies, whose infrastructure requires significant amounts of electricity, transitioning to a more environmentally friendly energy consumption model is an important part of improving operational and energy efficiency.

This step is part of Uzbektelecom JSC's systematic ESG transformation aimed at consistently reducing its environmental impact, enhancing the transparency of climate-related reporting, and implementing international sustainable development principles.
