What Is International Roaming and How Much Does It Cost?

Roaming is a service that allows you to use mobile communication with a UZTELECOM SIM card outside the borders of Uzbekistan.

Charges for basic services depend on the country and are billed according to standard roaming tariffs. There are also cost-effective roaming packages and promotions.

All prices are indicated in the national currency and include all applicable taxes.

Call charges are indicated per 1 minute, and Internet charges are indicated per 1 MB.

Incoming SMS in roaming are not charged.

Calls to the Call Center of the “Sales and Service Center” branch while the subscriber is in roaming are chargeable and are billed as “outgoing calls to Uzbekistan” according to roaming tariffs.

In case of conditional call forwarding, the cost of the forwarded call consists of the cost of the incoming call and the cost of the corresponding outgoing call.

Voice calls are rounded up to the nearest full minute.

The Internet traffic billing increment is 16 KB.

Countries not included in the list of tariff zones are classified under the “Other countries” tariff zone.

To avoid communication difficulties during trips, we strongly recommend checking the status of the International Roaming service before traveling to other countries, and if the service is not activated, to activate it within the Republic of Uzbekistan.

For Residents of Border Areas of Uzbekistan

If a subscriber lives near the border with Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, or Kyrgyzstan, their device may automatically connect to the network of a mobile operator in one of these countries.

To reduce the likelihood of the device automatically registering on a foreign operator’s network and, consequently, being charged at roaming rates, we recommend manually selecting the UZTELECOM network and always checking the operator name displayed on the phone screen.

To avoid unexpected charges in border areas, subscribers are advised to deactivate the “International Roaming” service using the USSD code *188# or 1008#.

How to Activate the “International Roaming” Service While Abroad?

If a subscriber did not activate the “International Roaming” service before departure and has already arrived in another country, their number will not be registered on the networks of roaming partners. As a result, the mobile device or smartphone will not have access to a mobile network, and the subscriber will not be able to make or receive calls, send or receive SMS messages, use mobile internet, or make USSD requests.

In this case, the “International Roaming” service can be activated using one of the following methods:

1. MyUZTELECOM mobile application

Find a free Wi-Fi zone in the country of stay and connect your smartphone to Wi-Fi.

3. UZTELECOM Telegram Bot

Find a free Wi-Fi zone in the country of stay and connect your smartphone to Wi-Fi.

4. Customer Support Service

If the subscriber does not have access to a free Wi-Fi zone, they can call UZTELECOM’s 24/7 customer support service from another phone number at +998 71 200 10 99.

Calls to this number are available only from abroad and are charged according to the applicable tariffs.

* In this case, the subscriber must complete full identification using their passport details.

To avoid connectivity issues while traveling, we strongly recommend checking the status of the “International Roaming” service before traveling abroad and activating the service while in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
