Job Responsibilities
- Performing maintenance, installation, and repair of all types of fiber-optic cables;
- Carrying out fusion splicing of multimode and single-mode optical fibers;
- Identifying and eliminating faults in fiber-optic cables;
- Installing patch cords and pigtails;
- Installing optical patch panels of various types and capacities;
- Connecting optical modules, switches, and splitters;
- Preparing optical cables, splicing optical fibers, and preparing them for testing and measurements;
- Installing joint and branch optical closures;
- Carrying out routine and major repairs of fiber-optic communication lines;
- Conducting preventive maintenance activities to keep equipment in proper working condition;
- Performing routine and major repairs of line-cable communication facilities within the communication network;
- Eliminating all types of cable faults without interrupting communication services;
- Carrying out preventive maintenance and construction of cable duct systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Secondary specialized vocational education;
- Knowledge of regulatory documents, instructions, and record-keeping procedures;
- Understanding of the principles of local telephone network architecture;
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of electrical engineering;
- Knowledge of connection diagrams for various telephone devices and other end-user equipment, including broadband service equipment;
- Knowledge of installation and operation rules for broadband terminal equipment;
- Knowledge of technical documentation procedures;
- Knowledge of safety regulations for working near power transmission lines.
